Le 31 juillet dernier, 18h30, Capelas Imparfeitas do Mosteiro de Batalha, Portugal. Je dirigeais pour le dernier concert d'une série mon oeuvre, Une guerre aveugle (13/11/15), pour sa création. Ca a été un grand moment de partage et d'émotions musicales et un grand plaisir pour moi...
Huit mois et demi plus tôt, avaient lieu les attaques terroristes de Paris et Saint-Denis. Alors que je devais commencer à réfléchir à la composition d'une oeuvre commandée pour le stage international de direction d'orchestre de Jean-Sébastien Béreau à Leiria au Portugal, ces attentats résonnaient encore en moi-même. Je me suis posé des questions (comme tout le monde après cela), pourquoi ? pour quoi ? vers quoi allons-nous ? que va-t-il se passer ?... Ce sont mes réflexions autour de ces questions que j'ai mises en musique dans Une guerre aveugle (13/11/15). Cette oeuvre est organisée comme un poème symphonique, c'est pourquoi j'ai décidé de diffuser, pour les concerts, une note au public concernant mes intentions artistiques (vous pouvez retrouver cette note en consultant la page qui lui est consacrée ici).
Ensuite est venu le temps du stage et de la rencontre avec de jeunes talentueux musiciens portugais. Et j'ai été extrêmement touché de voir à quel point ils se sont accaparé et ont adopté l'oeuvre. Du côté des chefs d'orchestre présents, l'engouement suscité par la création prochaine était palpable.
Puis sont venus les concerts. Lors du premier concert, le 29 juillet à Marrazes, j'ai eu le plaisir d'assister à la première audition d'Une guerre aveugle (13/11/15), dirigée efficacement par Nathanaël Iselin-Milhet. Le lendemain, à Leiria, c'est un talentueux chef portugais, Helder Abreu, qui a dirigé mon oeuvre. Et enfin, le 31 juillet dernier, à Batalha, c'est moi qui ai eu le plaisir de diriger ce bel orchestre de jeunes. C'est d'ailleurs ce jour-là qu'a été enregistrée la version d'Une guerre aveugle (13/11/15) que vous trouverez ici et sur mon site.
Je ne tire que du positif de ces deux semaines. Evidemment, il me faut saluer un homme sans qui tout ceci n'aurait pas été possible : Jean-Sébastien Béreau. C'est un musicien complet d'une immense expérience et doté d'un talent phénoménal. Je le remercie très chaleureusement pour la confiance qu'il m'a accordée en programmant une de mes oeuvres à son stage ; cette confiance m'a profondément touché. Enfin, je remercie tous les musiciens de l'orchestre ainsi que tous les chefs présents pour leur enthousiasme et leur sympathie.
J'espère qu'Une guerre aveugle (13/11/15) aura d'autres occasions d'être jouée en concert ! Je ne manquerai pas de vous en tenir informés !

Eight months and a half sooner happened the terrorist attacks in Paris and Saint-Denis. These attacks were still reverberating in me when I started to think of the composition of a work for the international conducting summer academy of Jean-Sébastien Béreau in Leiria, Portugal. I was wondering (like everybody after a such event): why ? what for ? where are we going to ? what will happen now ?... They are the reflections on these questions that I put in music in A Blind War (13/11/15). That work is shaped as a symphonic poeam ; that is why I decided to give to the audience a note in which I explained my artistic intentions (you can find this note by consulting this webpage).
Then, the academy began and we met all the young and talented Portuguese musicians of the orchestra. I was deeply touched to see how they adopted the work and how they were very enthusiastic to perform it. Among the conductors, there was a palpable passion for the impending creation.
29th July 2016, Marrazes, I attented to the first audition of A Blind War (13/11/15) that was efficiently conducted by Nathanaël Iselin-Milhet. On the next day, in Leiria, it is a talented Portuguese conductor, Helder Abreu, who conducted my work. Then, on 31st July 2016, in Batalha, I had the great plaesure to conduct this young orchestra. It is on that day that we recorded the version of A Blind War (13/11/15) that you can find here and on this website.
These two weeks spent in Portugal wre extremely positive. Of course, I must salute one man without whom nothing of that would have been possible : Jean-Sébastien Béreau. He is a complete and eminently talented musician with a huge experience. I want to thank him warmly for the confidence he had in me by planning one of my works for his academy. That touched me a lot. Finally, I would like to thank all the musicians who were in the orchestra and all the conductors for their enthusiasm and their liking.
I hope that there will have many other concerts with A Blind War (13/11/15) ! I will inform you of that !
